My back porch is a disaster.
Complete DISASTER. My sunflowers that I grew from a pack of seeds have now died, and the other "late summer" flowers are well on their way to the empty lot next to our house. There are dead leaves stuck to the ground and it just looks icky. I plan to do a major overhaul of the porch this weekend! So, that only leaves me with crotons on the back porch, which are pretty but I LOVE flowers!! Does anyone have any suggestion for flowers in the Coastal South that bloom through winter? Or is that too much to ask. My October Southern Living magazine says to try petunias and snapdragons...I am in need of some ideas to liven things up!
Those who wait for perfect weather will never plant seeds; those who look
at every cloud will never harvest crops. Plant early in the morning, and work
until evening, because you don't know if this or that will succeed. They might
both do well.
Ecclesiastes 11:4
He who waits until circumstance completely favor his undertaking will never accomplish anything.

We do share a love of gardening! You could try elephant ears- even though they are not a flower they are so dramatic! Our lowes up here is stocking "hardy" versions of plants so maybe your stores are too! I would say a hardy version of jasmine because it is so fragrant and the flowers are beautiful but they are a climber plant. I can't wait to read about what you chose!
ReplyDeleteEmily-just wanted to thank you for stopping by my blog and becoming a follower!! I just read that you had a butternut squash disaster. :-( Sorry!! Maybe it will be better next time.
ReplyDeleteI also see that you are a follower of Christ too. I love when I find fellow Sisters in the blogging community! God is so Good!!!
