We had our 28 week doctor's appointment on Monday, the 14th. Both boys are doing great! They each gained 1 lb 3 oz and I only gained 6 lbs! So, Jake weighs 3 lbs and Ty weighs 2 lbs 14 oz! I am officially on house arrest, which basically means I have to stay in the house. No housework, no cooking, basically just live in the house. We did "convince" my doctor to let me go to the pool down the road, thank goodness, and he would reevaluate how I am doing at 30 weeks to see if I can keep going. I feel like I am normal again in the pool! It really is amazing how much it helps. I am measuring 40 weeks...wow. My doctor said by the end of pregnancy I could be measuring 52-55 weeks. Holy cow!
The next time I go to the doctor is in 2 weeks, when I am 30 weeks. Then, I will start going every week after that until I deliver. I think that just sunk it this week. We are getting SO close! Especially since the average week twins deliver is between 35 and 36 weeks! Holy Cow! I feel like I have so much left to do.
Question - all you mothers out there, did you buy special nursing pajamas to wear once the baby (babies) were born? And where in the heck do you get nursing pajamas!? Any suggestions on what needs to be packed in your bag to the hospital? I feel like since there is a huge chance the boys could come early, I need to get as much as done as possible before I am too huge and miserable!
People keep asking me when I am due and have a shocked look on their faces when I tell them August. I don't think I look that huge...but I do feel like I am carrying an elephant baby. I am starting to feel not so great. I've lost my appetite and I can't eat as big of meals anymore. I am not sleeping well at all - either tossing and turning (or trying to, ha) or getting up to go to the bathroom. My back has been aching a lot, but nothing the pool can't fix (temporarily)! :)
I am trying not to complain and I feel so blessed and humbled that God has chosen Spencer and I to be the parents of identical twin boys. I absolutely can not wait for them to be here! I know we are going to be in for a fun adventure!

You can thank me for not posting a bare belly picture. It looks alienish, although Spencer would disagree. It just is weird seeing yourself with a bowling ball coming out of your abdomen! haha :)

I bought nursing pajamas with Price (my first) but didn't really wear them much. Then I didn't wear them at all with Hayes. (I thought it was just as easy to wear a big regular shirt.) You will want a night nursing bra though. It is kind of like a v-necked sports bra and makes sleeping/nursing at night easier. I have one from Motherhood and one from a pea in the pod. As far as the hospital goes, I never changed out of the hospital gown. It was easy to nurse in and I obviously didn't care if it got dirty. You'll probably want socks or house shoes because it is usually cold in there. You'll want something you can wear home. I recommend stretchy pants (probably not jeans, even maternity ones.) You will also want something to bring the boys home in but I would throw in a couple of outfits you really like for them because Price pooped all over his before we left the hospital! That's all I can think of right now, I know it's not a huge help. I can't believe it is getting so close and I can't wait to see those precious boys! If I think of any more helpful advice I will let you know!
ReplyDeleteSorry, thought of one more thing...make sure you take your own pillows. You'll sleep so much better and even be more comfortable in labor if you have your own. The hospital ones usually aren't very comfortable!
ReplyDeleteTHANK YOU so much Kristy!! That is good advice! :) I never would have thought about bringing my own pillow...
ReplyDeleteEmily you look amazing! Kristy had great advice. I ordered pajamas but never even ended up wearing them. I stayed in the hospital gown the entire time for the most part because it was comfortable, easy to nurse, and I didnt care if it got dirty. I didnt want my pajamas to get dirty! Oh also because I was sooooo HOT!!! (hormones I guess?? And I think the epidural made me hot) and that hospital gown was the lightest thing that I felt the coolest in. By the last day I just wore black stretch yoga pants and a tshirt. And I pretty much wore that home too. I brought outfits for myself and never wore them.
ReplyDeleteWe took 3 outfits for River. He only wore 2 I think? Take your pillow for sure! Oh and I had to bring all my own toiletries. Blow dryer too.. some hospitals provide those but mine didnt.
My advice - make BFF with the nurses. Our nurses ended up hooking us up with TONS of free things, always brought me extra food, gave me everything they could from the hospital, and were so helpful with nursing and taking care of River. I was so thankful that they liked us because it was a HUGE help!
And seriously - you look amazing!
