Human Pin Cushion

I decided to try something new on Thursday. Acupuncture. Yep, acupuncture. And here's why:

Reason 1: Why not?
Reason 2: My mother-in-law and sister-in-law had been before and the acupuncturist was actually pretty dead on with some of the things she told them. I figured why not I try it to see if she could help me improve my health.
Reason 3: Spencer and I want to have another baby again as soon as possible. I figured she could give me tips on improving my nutrition so that my body is fully ready to develop a growing baby.

When we walked in to the office, it reeked of incense. The acupuncturist, a lady named Ramma, was so nice. She asked me a lot of questions about my diet and some other things. She knew about the boys so she asked how I was healing.

From her observation, she said I needed more nutrition and that I wasn't eating right. Ok, I eat pretty healthy so I had no clue what she was talking about. She said I was slighly anemic - which I figured was from the pregnancy. She told me about a juice drink I needed to make so I could eat more greens and also some of the ingredients would help heal my insides and were good for reproductive organs.

The needle part wasn't so bad. It didn't hurt at all. I had rolled my ankle a few days ago and it was still hurting pretty good. She stuck needles in my ankles and after the session it did not hurt at all! Seriously.

So about this juice she wanted me to drink. She wanted me to blender up beets, dark grapes, carrots, apples, cayenne pepper, aloe vera juice, cilantro, mustard greens, kale, parsley, spinach and some other leafy veggies. I can't remember.

And this is what it looked like all mixed up...

OH.MY.GOSH. It was disgusting. I was gagging in the sink. Let's just say I will find other means of getting my greens. It was like eating cold, lumpy mash potatoes that weren't cooked all the way. SICK! I am getting icky just thinking about it.

Overall, my experience wasn't bad - just the shake. I would probably go again.

  2. hahahahaha... I was all geared up to hear about some wonderful concoction you just loved and how good it makes you feel. I was going to ask you for the recipe, then I got to the end of your post. Soooo funny! I agree with your friend, Peggy. Would rather have big tasty salad with all that stuff and a handful of grapes. :0) Acupuncture... well, I'll wait to hear more of your positive stories first. Don't know if I could handle the incense thing.
