17 Weeks and Counting...

OK, here I am! I took this picture right at 17 weeks and 1 day. I am completely in maternity pants and in between wearing regular shirts and maternity shirts. I told Spencer one day I am going to invent maternity sizing that is in stages so you don't have to wear huge ginormous maternity shirts when you are barely out of your regular clothes.

I started feeling the boys kick a few days ago! Oh my gosh, I was sitting there and felt a little tap-tap on the lower part of my belly. It was unmistakable! I had never felt something like that before so I knew it had to be the boys! It is the coolest feeling ever! :)

Before we left Jacksonville, we went to a high risk specialist, which is pretty much standard when you are having multiples. The high-risk specialists stay an extra 2-3 years in a residency to become an expert at finding "problems" or reasons for concerns in an ultrasound. When we went, the doctor saw that one of our babies has his umbilical chord going through the side of the placenta instead of through the center - which basically means that instead of going the quickest route to get nutrients, it is going the roundabout way. All this means is that the babies may not grow at the same rate, which is bad for both babies because one of the babies grows too much and the other not enough, in a quick paraphrase and sparing other details. So, no need for concern right now, just something to monitor. Last Wednesday, the 24th, both babies were doing really, really well and both growing at the same rate! One boy was 6 oz and another was 7 oz.

Yesterday, we went to our regular OB here in Austin for the first time. We weren't supposed to go until April 22nd, but after he saw our records from the high-risk, he wanted to go ahead and see me. The visit went SO well. I was worried about having a male doctor but he was really great and we liked him SO much! His office staff is amazing and his nurse was SO sweet! She gave us big hugs when we left and they put everything at ease! The babies look good, he said I was doing good so we are feeling so much better. :)

He did say though that at 20 weeks (which is in like 2 weeks) I can't exercise anymore - no walking, no running, no nothing. At 28 weeks, I am basically under house arrest. No cooking, no vacuming, no going out to eat, no running errands. Basically, just living in the house doing nothing. The reason for this is bc with twins there is more pressure on the cervix, which could cause it to shortern and therefore go into pre-term labor so he wants me to do as little as possible to help relieve the pressure. So, I get to turn into a big, fat bum. :)

SO, other than that, everything is looking good and the babies are healthy!! Now we just need to decide on names.... :)
