Busy End of June

So, I know I haven't blogged in a while but I think I have a good excuse. We have had family or company staying overnight with us from June 22 - July 2 and then July 4-July 5. Believe me, I am not complaining at all! We have just been a little busier than normal. :)

June 23 - 25 we had Dan and his girlfriend Kristin staying with us on their trip to Texas! Dan and Spencer have been close friends for a LONG time - and I even knew Dan before Spencer and I were friends! We all went to Baylor together. Dan met his girlfriend Kristin in Washington, D.C. where she is a nurse and he is interning with the National Institute of Health for his med school degree.

Since I can't get out on the boat, the three of them played on the lake all morning and afternoon. One night they went out to Austin to meet some other friends that went to Baylor. I think they had a really good time.
Dan, Kristin, Spencer and his dad about to go out on the lake!
While Dan was here we heard some really sad news. One of their fraternity brothers and close friend John Seward passed away Wed. night June 23rd. He was hang gliding and his aircraft (not sure if that is what you call it or not) slammed into the side of the mountain. He was a Christian, which is such a blessing. John was in our wedding and I am so thankful he came out June 5th to hang out with some other people. In that blog post, there is a picture of John with Spencer and their other friend Drew at the kitchen table. (John is the one on the right).
On Friday the 25th, our friends from Jacksonville, Josh and Rebecca, came to visit! Their arrival and Dan and Kristin's departure overlapped so we all got to hang out together for lunch!
Saturday they all went and played on the lake and then we went to the pool! My favorite! :)

While they were here we found my new favorite place to get desserts, well cupcakes. Oh my gosh! They were SO good! I got the Michael Jackson - chocolate bottom with cream cheese icing. :)

Sunday night we went to Cooper's BBQ. This place is awesome. You pick your meat from a huge smoker located outside the entrance. They slop your meat in a tub of BBQ sauce, then slop it on a tray and you take your tray inside to be weighed. They have the best homemade cobbler and you can choose from tons of sides, but the pinto beans come with the meal. They are kept in a huge kettle and you just go and ladle out what you want! So, if yall ever come to visit, more than likely you'll be making a trip out to Cooper's BBQ. :)

We had such a good time with Josh and Rebecca and we were so glad they came! It was good to hang out with them and catch up!! :) Thanks for coming guys! :)
