Nashville

Sorry for the serious lack of blogging lately...nothing has been going on really to report. Unless you wanted me to inform you of the books I've been reading or lack of excitement at the gym....yeah I didn't think so. :)

I did do something exciting this week, though! I went to Nashville, TN to visit one of my very dear childhood friends, Christine. We've been best friends since 6th grade and played on the same basketball teams all throughout junior high and high school. We went through our awkward junior high stages together, getting through our first periods (sorry if that is TMI, ha!), dealing with boys, going to high school football games, meeting each other's college friends, Bible studies in the summer and endless amount of phone calls. Thank goodness for AT&T mobile-to-mobile minutes. :) We've gotten each other through the happy times and the bad times and I am so thankful for her friendship!

When I got into town on Monday, she took me back to her beautiful home and gave me a tour of her neighborhood. It reminded me so much of Kentucky! She drove me around and showed me where her and her husband and 11-month old go to church, their favorite restaurants, and different areas of Nashville. It was so fun to see where she lives and where she has made her home.

Tuesday we went to the best pancake place in the whole entire world, Pancake Pantry. They had at least 15 different types of pancakes, from buttermilk to cherry filled to cinnamon spice. I, of course, chose the Chocolate Chip and Christine got the Cinnamon Spice that came with the most amazing cinnamon cream syrup. It even tasted amazing on my pancakes! We both left there SO stuffed but it was SO worth it.

Tuesday afternoon we went swimming at the Y all afternoon. I tell ya, it is HOT everywhere, but it was maybe 6 degrees cooler in Nashville and that 6 degree difference felt amazing! 94 is way better than the Texas 100 degrees. :)

Wednesday we went to a fun farmers market downtown. They had the most beautiful peaches. If i wasn't flying home I would have bought a whole basket. I love farmer's markets so much! It made me want to go to the ones in Austin! I'm adding it to the list. :)

After the farmer's market, we went to lunch at Ted's Montana Grill. We had one of those when we lived in Jacksonville, FL, so I was SO glad to get to go!! I love that place, especially the bison burgers and onion rings! :)

Our friend Ashley and her 8-week old son met us for lunch! I hadn't seen her since Christmas! Her and her husband live maybe one hour from Nashville, near an army base where he is stationed. I was SO glad we got to see her and meet her sweet boy! I grew up playing with Ashley when we were in elementary school and junior high. I still remember us spending afternoons trading baseball cards and rolling around in the leaves in the fall and doing all sorts of silly stuff! She is such a sweet girl and she means so much to me!

So, there's my excitement for hopefully, not another 3 weeks like last time. :) I'll work on it.....hehe
