I absolutely love this time of year! I love the weather and being outside in it after a cold winter. It always makes me want to plant flowers. In this house, we have lots of space for flower beds! In our Florida house, I didn't really have a lot of room to work with so I had to use a lot of pots. So, you can imagine my excitement when it came time to plant. :)
The dirt in the beds was next to nothing - seriously, pathetic. I had to go to Lowe's and build up the beds - or so that is what the garden people called it - and they loaded my Yukon full of cow manure, mushroom compost, some other kind of Texas compost and some good ole dirt. I didn't even have room for flowers! Building up the beds was no easy task. It took me about 5 hours after it was all said and done but they look SO much better!
I picked my flowers based on what I like, how much sun they could take, and a few on whether or not they were perennials. So, this is what I came up with! I love coming home and seeing my bright flowers. :) They have actually gotten a lot bigger and have a lot more blooms now than when I took these pictures. Next on the list is to add mulch and I am done!
And of course Bailey had to help! :)
I love this! And I'm jealous of you for two reasons. One...our ground is still frozen. Two...I have to use pots this year since we don't have a yard! Have so much fun planting this spring!!
ReplyDeleteThey look so good Emily! I noticed them the other day when we were there. You have motivated me to get out in my yard and work on the flower beds!
ReplyDeleteSo pretty Emily!! I remember your planters in Florida - I agree, the flower beds are better. When we get a yard, you may need to come out and show me how its done... I definitely do not have a green thumb.
